The snare wire for a 14 Inches w.f. ludwig concert snare drum with string mounting has 16 strands, an overall length of 14 5/8 Inches, and a strand length of 13 3/4 Inches (including the soldered area on each end-plate). One end plate has a centered 3/16 Inches hole for attachment of the snare wire unit to the strainer frame via a screws, while the other end plate has a more modern configuration for attachment via string or strap. Puresound's vintage series snare wires are designed not only to replace worn and no longer available wires on vintage snares, they are also designed to enhance the performance of those classic drums.
